Lash Curls and Thicknesses

WHAT ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS?

Eyelash Extensions are a popular new service and product that lengthens and thickens your own natural eyelashes and enhances your eyes. Lash Extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural eyelash one by one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Eyelash Extensions are perfect for special occasions or for day to day wear and gives you the length, thickness and fullness of natural eyelashes. The extensions may consist of silk, mink, or synthetic hair. The different methods of applying the extensions include individual and one-by-one extensions. False eyelashes and Eyelash 'Extensions' are not the same at Le Lash Beautique we do all the different methods. Eyelash Extensions must be applied one by one to avoid having them stick together.

What do Eyelash Extensions look like when applied?

With correct professional and proper application, meaning one synthetic eyelash applied to one natural lash the look and feel is completely natural looking and real. No one will know you have eyelash extensions.

How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions Last?

When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Everyone’s experience will differ based on day to day activities but over all touchups should only be required every 2 to 3 weeks. A special waterproof bonding agent is used. Glue does not contain any fumes or irritants and is long lasting.

How often should I get touch-ups?

We recommend getting a touch up every 2 two 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Your natural eyelashes fall off every 45 – 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Other factors such as expsoure to steam or touching your eyes alot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that fallen. Touch ups average about 45 minutes.

Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?

Yes, even though mascara is not really required since the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara it can be worn.. It must however only be water based mascara. DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water based eye makeup remover and never rub the eyelashes

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?

Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc after 24 hours of application. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low.

Can I use Eyelash Curlers with Eyelash Extensions?

We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. The extensions do have a natural curl but if more of a curl is required we recommend using a heated eyelash curler.

How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?

•        Do not get lashes wet for 12- 24 hours. Light mist is fine
•        Avoid hot steam or sauna as the heat can cause the glue to melt
•        Avoid running water directly on your lashes in the shower
•        Do not rub your eyes or pull on the lashes
•        Only use water based mascara (optional) or clear mascara
•        If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area
•        Use water based eye makeup remover and do not rub to hard when removing make up
•        Do not perm your lashes unless done prior having lashes applied
•        Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler due to the heat
•        Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely) and will make it hard to refill your lashes

How long will it take to Apply Eyelash Extensions and how is it done?

The application process for lash extensions normally takes anywhere from 45 mins – 1.5 hours with someone who is experienced doing these. Mink lashes can take up to 2 hours. If you go to a newly certified professional it may take up to 3 hours. You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed. The Eyelash professional will then apply an under eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes or taped the bottom lashes down to avoid them sticking together. Then the extensions will carefully be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis.

How do I choose the look I want?

Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thickness. At Le Lash Beautique we normally consult with you first to see what type of style you are interested in. We also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to size. Each person’s lashes will vary in strength and length. We take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall look of the lashes is very natural.

What are the benefits of wearing eyelash extensions?

You have probably heard that eyelash extensions can eliminate the need for eye makeup. The thickness and fullness of extensions applied by Le Lash Beautique Lashes will make you look and feel gorgeous day and night and you never have to wear mascara again.

cosmetic tattoo FAQS

WHAT IS COSMETIC TATTOO?

Cosmetic Tattooing, feathering or micro-blading is also referred to as 'semi-permanent makeup' or 'Micropigmentation'.

It is an increasingly popular form of cosmetic treatment involving the controlled insertion of colour pigments into the dermis layer or in other words, beneath the surface of the skin using a sterile blade for the microblading process or via small sterile disposable needles when feathering, to imitate the appearance of hairstrokes, instantly improving facial definition and facial features such as the brows, lips and eyeliner. Cosmetic tattooing will fade over time, or metabolise, to some degree over time and will require a touch up once a year or once over a period of several years. This is why it is referred to as 'semi-permanent'. It is becoming an increasingly popular trend as girls get busier, they do not have as much time to apply makeup every day and so they turn to cosmetic tattoo to save time.

Cosmetic Tattoo is more subtle than standard body tattoo and the pigments used in cosmetic tattoo are designed to fade over shorter periods compared to body tattoo.

WHY WOULD YOU GET IT DONE?

  • If you are unable to apply makeup for any reason

  • If you suffer from eye allergies caused by makeup

  • Have poor eyesight

  • To enhance facial features, eyebrows, eyeliner, lips

  • Those with poor eyesight and unable to apply makeup

  • Are busy and don't have time to spend on their makeup

  • Those in the entertainment/modelling industry

  • Thos who play sport and don't want to worry about makeup running when sweating or having to re-apply makeup

  • Those with thinning or no eyebrows

  • Those that have had a facelift or breast surgery and require a touch up of features

DOES IT HURT?

No, the process should not hurt whatsoever. We use the top of the range topical numbing cream specially designed for cosmetic tattoo imported from Korea. You should not feel a thing.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO COSMETIC TATTOO?

There may be some swelling, redness and inflammation of the areas that have been cosmetically tattooed. Make sure you prepare yourself a few days after the procedure and take a couple of days off work especially if you get your lips tattooed. If there is swelling, it typically lasts anywhere from 3 hours to 72 hours.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FEATHERING/MICROPIGMENTATION AND MICROBLADING?

Microblading is the older process of cosmetic tattoo. Technicians use a small sterile blade to perform small strokes in the skin to imitate hair lines for example in eyebrows. Micropigmentation/3D feathering is the new method of Cosmetic Tattoo via use of a digital machine, implanting the pigment deeper into the dermis layer (skin) than Microblading. This procedure is more precise that the older process of 'Microblading'

WHAT IS SHELLAC

Shellac is the brand name for a new, patent pending nail product created by Creative Nail Design (CND). It is a hybrid, meaning half nail polish, half gel.

The product can be applied similarly to nail polish on your natural nails (no sculpting or filing). It is cured through UV lighting, just like Gels.

Pros

  • Thin and strong product that gives it both flexibility and durability

  • Natural look combined with the shine associated with gel nails

  • Lasts up to 14 days

  • Removal technique through acetone wraps does not leave nails dry, thin, or torn.

Cons

  • Unlike other artificial nails, you cannot use Shellac to strengthen or lengthen your nails.

  • Shellac is only sold to licensed professionals and requires a special removal process. You cannot apply Shellac, repair a break or even remove it at home.

  • Shellac is not for everyone as it requires a healthy nail bed.

WHAT IS ACRYLIC

Acrylic Nails

Your nail technician will mix a liquid with a powder and brush the mixture onto your nails. They'll usually cover your entire nail, though sometimes they'll just add tips or a flexible form that they can sculpt to extend your nails.

The product hardens as it is exposed to the air. You may notice a strong odor during the application process, but it isn't harmful, provided the room has good ventilation.

Upkeep: Over time, acrylics grow out with your nails. Every two to three weeks, you should return to the salon to have your nails filled in. Your technician will gently file down the acrylic edge closest to your nail bed, then fill in the empty area between your nail bed and the existing acrylic nail.

Removal: When you decide to have your acrylics removed, your nail technician will remove them quite easily, with no forcing or prying, after soaking your hands in nail polish remover for 15 minutes.

Gel Nails

Unlike toothpaste-thick gel products of the past, today's gels have a similar consistency to nail polish.

They are brushed onto your nails, nail tips, or nail appliqués to extend length. After your nail technician applies each coat, you must put your nails under ultraviolet (UV) light for up to two minutes to "cure" or harden the product. There is no odor during the application process

Difference between Acrylic and Gel: Acrylic nails are made with a powder dipped in solvent. They are used to lengthen the nail or provide a stronger top layer over the natural nail. They are usually clear or natural-toned however sometimes they come in colors. Gels, on the other hand, come in nail polish shades, and are cured under a UV or LED lamp which hardens the gel.
